He attended Busan Performance Art High School. Jimin then took up Dance Performance in high school and graduated in 2013 as the top seat student. During his studies, he studied abroad in China because of his excellent performance in dance. Jimin became interested in a singing career after watching one of Rain’s performances. After his dance teacher recommended to audition, he auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment.
Jimin performed 'Tony Montana', by SUGA, together with SUGA, during a fan meeting. He was also a part in Jungkooks cover 'We Don't Talk Anymore' and took part in writing the BTS songs 'Lie' and 'Serendipity'.
